"Right now Miami, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Syracuse, and Auburn are my top 6. I am focusing on seeing where I fit in best both academically and kicking wise." Palardy is the latest in a long line of top tier St. Thomas kickers. The talented lefty is highly coveted for his booming leg and rare ability to alter the flight of the ball----situational kicking.
"I have been down to Miami during their Spring practices, it is a great program, a lot of young players, they are only going to get better, Coach Stoudland, Coach Shannon, I really like them. I am going to Alabama's Spring Game on April 18th and probably get up to Tennessee sometime in between. I would like to see all the schools on my list."
Last year Palardy only handled the kicking duties(Notre Dame signee Ben Turk was the punter), but it looks like as a senior he will do both, "I have always done both. Schools are recruiting me to do both. Watching the best punter in the country, on a daily basis, you can't help but get better. My goal next season is to achieve a net average of 40 yds or better." The punts in the workout video show outstanding hang time and distance.
There is a downside to being the kicker on an offense that rarely gets stopped- lots of extra points(76 for 78) and not many field goal attempts(4 for 5). "I want to continue to perfect the accuracy of my field goal kicking, everything down the middle. I have an extra point streak of 33, I hope that continues."
When 98% are touchbacks there are no issues with distance, but how about accuracy? I posed the question of where he felt 'confident' to make a field goal with the game on the line, "I'll make it." From 52 yards with the game on the line? "Yes sir, I'll make it."
