Powers Continues to Impress

The Sunshine State's most productive player is Will Powers from Jupiter Christian. You are in elite company when you run for 1,900+ and record 126 tackles on defense. Powers has been the driving force on the back to back State Championship Jupiter Christian teams and they are the clear favorites for a three-peat.

Will Powers has had the opportunity to compete against some of the top players in Florida almost on a weekly basis this off-season. Whether it was a workout with Team Palm Beach or an actual combine/competition, Powers has been there and shined. "I love to compete, I think that showed from our whole team when we went undefeated in Tampa, I have always been that way."

On the recruiting trail, "I think most schools look at me as a running back, I think I can play LB or S as well, it does not matter to me. I am hearing from Southern Miss and a lot of the Ivy League Schools. That would be an awesome opportunity to go to that type of academic environment." With a 4.27 GPA Powers is, incredibly, even better in the classroom than on the field.

Is there one school that stands out, "North Carolina. That is a school I have always liked, I just think it is great combo of academics and athletics."

At running back, Powers has shown the versatility to run out of traditional two back and shotgun/spread single back sets, an important quality in today's game. "I think next year we will be more spread, we have some younger players who are ready to step up at wide receiver."

The last two seasons Jupiter Christian has been 27-1, in 2009 they will face their toughest schedule, "2009 is all about big games. Glades Central, it does not get better than that. Me and Marshyl hopefully winning another State Championship, going out on top, running the show." Another game is at North Florida Christian. "That one is at the beginning of the year, big game, we are both State Champs."
