Boyd Receives Georgia Offer

The good news keeps rolling in at Cape Coral High School. Just one day after team mate Jeremy Davis committed to Miami, Spencer Boyd received an offer from Georgia.

"Georgia offered today, I am excited at the opportunity, I don't really know a lot about them, but I am very interested in finding out more about the University. I am going to try to get up there as soon as possible."

Boyd has played mainly RB at Cape Coral the past two years, but has shined when he has played on the defensive side of the ball as well, "I like both positions (RB and CB), more schools are recruiting me on the defensive side of the ball, that is fine with me."

With over 15 offers including Notre Dame, Michigan, Stanford, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss, Boyd has plenty of options on the recruiting trail, "I want to check out all my options. Notre Dame and Michigan offered, so I went up there and visited both schools and was very impressed with both. They are big-time programs with everything I am looking for."

The Georgia offer was a bit of a surprise for Boyd, "My initial thoughts on Georgia were that they have mostly Georgia guys on the roster and about how I would fit in. Then I saw that Willie Martinez and Mark Richt both played at Miami and are from South Florida. They have two commits from Orlando(Osceola's Deas and Butler) and last year they signed three from Florida(Murray, Charles, Wooten). That really eased my mind about that. I can't wait to get up there and see Athens. I know they are very passionate about football. Georgia has produced some great defensive back's over the years."

Over 25 schools have been through Cape Coral this Spring already with many more expected. Schools like Arkansas, Tennessee, and Miami have all left very impressed with Boyd, "Some schools are still evaluating me. I will make a decision when I know where I want to go, when it feels right. It is a big decision. My main thing right now is seeing who is really interested and then trying to get to those schools."

With a team mate and good friend Jaylen Watkins committed to UF, how would it be to line up opposite him? "I can't imagine not playing with Jaylen, we have known each other a long time. He made his decision and now I will have to make mine. We would get after it, that is for sure."

Spring Football in Florida is reaching it's half-way point, "We have looked good so far, we are excited as a team about what we think we can accomplish next year. It starts now. Charlotte will be a big game, we want to set the tone for next year. I am bigger, faster, and stronger than last year. I can't wait for September."
