Faustin Enjoying Spring

One of the top pure corners in the Sunshine State is Jhony Faustin from Naples Lely High School. The 5'10, 165 pounder is a physical presence on the edge and can cover with the best of them. He also makes his mark on special teams and is poised for a big senior year.

While Darion Hall has garnered plenty of attention, Jhony's recruitment has also started to heat up, "I have offers from Maryland, Florida International, and Middle Tennessee. I am starting to get a lot of phone calls at night and I think some more schools are getting ready to offer."

Pittsburgh, South Florida, Minnesota, Western Michigan, and Bowling Green are just a few of those schools who shown interest in Faustin. "I am open to the process and hope to be able to get up and see some of these schools this summer. Maryland is one school that I want to check out."

The talented corner showed his skills at the BadgerSport/NewLevel 7on7 in Tampa, "That was a great weekend, it was nice getting out of the area and competing against some of the best players in the state." He also showed his toughness by not wanting to leave the field despite a fairly bad hamstring injury. "I'm good to go right now, I am healthy, we feel like we are a better team than last year. Tomorrow night will be a test to see where we are at."

Lely was 7-4 in 2009, but lost three close games to close the season, "It was a play here or a play there that led to those losses, we feel we have some unfinished business for next season." Lely will be in District 12 3A with Naples, Barron Collier, Cypress Lake, Golden Gate, Lehigh, and East Lee County in 2009. "Our big game is the 'Coconut Bowl' with Naples, but there are a lot of talented teams in this new District. We'll be ready."

Back to the recruiting trail what is it that Jhony is looking for in a school, "To tell you the truth, I'm not that familiar with a lot of these schools, this is a new experience, I want to get along with the coaches and team and the rest will take care of itself. Academically all of these schools are strong, I don't think I can really go wrong."

Distance will not be a factor, "One of the best players to come out of Lely is Steve Octavian and he played at Nebraska. I don't have an issue with going away from home, something new and different might be a good thing."
