Palmer Excited About Opportunity

During a very impressive Spring season, Florida DL Danny Palmer had been turning head at schools in the Big 10, ACC, and Big 12. The scouting report on Palmer is that he is an extremely physical, tough, and relentless DL who plays with a high motor. An explosive first step with great lateral agility project well to the next level. He has an outstanding work ethic and with leadership qualities.

Palmer is one of only 8 DL selected nationwide to participate in the Top Gun Showcase event at the FBU All-Star Sports Training Complex in Paisley, Florida, "It is a huge honor to be selected for Top Gun. I'm really excited about being included in such an elite group. It will be great fun to compete against the nation's best athlete's and see how I stack up. Most of the time at other camps the competition is inconsistent, this will be different. It will be awesome."

When asked if he expects an All American invite to come out of Top Gun, "I'm not even thinking about that right now. I'm just excited that I'm going to get the opportunity to compete against the best players. Anything else is just icing on the cake."

Palmer has flown under the radar thus far and hopes the media exposure from the event will generate more interest, "That is an added bonus. Up until now, I've kind of a been a sleeper, that is changing fast. When schools hear about me, see my film, or see me compete, they always get excited."

When asked which schools he likes, Palmer said, "I like a lot of schools, but I love Illinois, Northwestern, Duke, Missouri, Syracuse, Minnesota, USF, Northern Illinois, Marshall, and the Citadel."

After being pressed for favorites, "It's too soon to know. I've been to Northern Illinois, Duke, USF, Minnesota, Marshall, and Syracuse and love them all for different reasons. I'm taking unofficial visits to Missouri, Illinois, Northwestern, and the Citadel later this month. After that, I'll have a pretty good idea."

Palmer has had the opportunity to start to build relationships with college coaches, "Coach Kill at NIU is a great man who I consider my friend. I've known him the longest, and he is a true leader. Coaches Zook(Illinois), Leavitt(USF), and Fitzgerald(Northwestern) are young, energetic, and inspiring. Coach Marrone(Syracuse) and Coach Brewster(Minnesota)are guys who are great motivators and care about you as a person."

Palmer is name that should rise up the recruiting rankings and is poised for a huge senior year at Lake Brantley, only two years removed from a State Championship Game loss, "That is the goal, to get to the State Championship Game, there are a lot of great teams we will have to get through, but I like our chances."
