Friday Night Recap

Week one is in the books, here is what happened around the state.

Dade

Northwestern 27, Carol City 6. MNW had a dominating defensive performance(held CC to 5 yards rushing). QB Teddy Bridgewater was 8-21 for 147 yards, WR Eli Rogers 2-59.

Hialeah 22, American 7. RB Jerron Seymour paced the Hialeah attack with over 125 yards, Hialeah's defense gave up 140 yards of offense.

BROWARD

Cypress Bay 20, Boyd Anderson 15. The Lightning forced 7 turnovers and BA was penalized over 100 yards. BA had close to 400 yards to 134(all on the ground) for CB.

Plantation 26, Northeast 15. Imonni Carswell hooked up with Deven Drane for 3 touchdowns as the Colonel's pulled away in the second half.

PALM BEACH

Glades Central 21, Dwyer 7. Dwyer dominated in total years (287 to 100), but four turnovers and blocked kick for a TD put the Raiders over the top. At WR, Greg Dent had 2-78 and an interception on defense.

Pahokee 13, Atlantic 6. Pahokee outgained Atlantic 379 to 192 in total yards. QB Dejoshua Johnson(13-21 for 255), WR Chris Dunkley (5-158), and ATH Fred Pickett (7 carries for 85 yards) showed why they are high D-1 recruits.

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

Naples 14, Dunbar 12. Naples won the battle on special teams and were efficient behind sophomore QB William Croom on offense. RB Darius Deloach had a 35+ yard TD run and a punt return for a TD for Dunbar.

Southeast 20, Palmetto 3. The Seminoles played stout defense holding the Tigers to just 69 yards on 30 carries.

TAMPA

Tampa Bay Tech 32, Plant 30. Plant blew a 24-0 lead in the third quarter as Miami commit Maurice Hagens ran for 147 yards on 30 carries. Plant only had 113 yards (73 by James Wilder), but got 2 Allen Sampson special teams scores (70 yard punt, 95 yard kickoff).

Jefferson 16, Hillsborough 15. Hillsborough joins Plant and opens with a loss. Jefferson went for two with 1:01 left down 15-14, QB Quentin Williams was successful on a keeper. Hillsborough QB Tarean Austin was intercepted at the 3 with 30 seconds left to seal it (10-18 for 111 yards).

NORTH CENTRAL

Gainesville 35, Trinity Catholic 17. Gainesville got a strong second half from QB Ryan McGriff (7-10) and RB Anquan Gainey rumbled for 101 yards. Trinity sophomore QB Gray Crow went 16-28 for 162 yards.

ORLANDO

Olympia 26, Boone 7. QB Trevor Siemian was 19-27 for 270 yards in a big win for Olympia. They played without star RB Jerius Pace and WR Rashad Lawrence.

Apopka 31, Lake Brantley 14. RB Tom Smith had 158 yards rushing and 3 TD's, while Keon Brooks added another 90 on 15 carries in the big win for the Blue Darters.

JACKSONVILLE

Miami Central 34, Mainland 3. QB Jeffrey Godfrey went 13-24 for 187 yards as the Rockets cruised to victory in this 6A showdown. RB Brandon Gainer added two scores on the ground. The Central defense stepped up and held Mainland to 163 yards.

Fletcher 20, Nease 10. QB Jake Medlock threw for 162 yards and ran for 65 while RB gained 107 on the ground. The Senators did fumble 6 times, losing 4.

PANHANDLE

Leon 20, Godby 16. Leon broke a 12 game losing streak to Godby in spectacular fashion. Down 16-13 with 55 seconds left, QB Raleigh DeVore hit Juan Neloms for a 34 yard TD. Godby RB Lavorrie Johnson had 187 total yards.

Pine Forest 6, Pensacola 3. Not much offense in this one. A 4 yard rushing TD by Victor Brown late in the 4th quarter put the Eagle's over the top.
