Faustin Commits to Purdue

One of the top cover corners in the state decided to pull the trigger Wednesday night. Lely's Jhony Faustin committed to the Boilermaker's and became their 12th commit for 2010.

"I committed to Purdue", those were the first words from Faustin. "I'm excited to have this opportunity, I did a lot of research on Purdue, and see myself fitting in there. I loved the coach who was recruiting me, I hit it off with him, and they really showed they wanted me. It is just a great fit." Faustin held offers from Pittsburgh, Iowa State, Maryland, FIU, and Middle Tennessee. "I am going to take my official visit October 17th when they play Ohio State. I am looking forward to getting up there, meeting some of the team, doing things like that."

The 5'10, 170 pound corner is known for his physical play, "I like to mix it up on the outside, I can play man or zone equally well, but I definitely like playing man."

Faustin also returns punts and kickoffs for the Trojans.

This season is not off to a good start for Lely, "We have lost a couple of games already, our coach is no longer our coach(HC Steve Pricer stepped down last week), so we are trying to re-group, and reach our goals this year. It starts this Friday with Immokalee, I'm excited, they like to throw the ball."

Faustin was the second Trojan to commit to a D-1 school (Miami has a commit from RB Darion Hall), "It's exciting, we have a lot of talent in our program. Donald Reseau, Vinson St. Jean are two more seniors and keep an eye on junior Makinton Dorleant. He is gonna be great one day."

Faustin was a stand out at numerous 7on7 events, the Miami Scout.com combine, and other camps this off-season. He is fully qualified.
