Ok, admittedly, I am a father of a Buford wrestler, so this may seem a bit "slanted".
That being said, I want to congratulate both teams for a couple of great duals between each other. The kids really put their heart and soul into both duals and it showed. However, as impressed as I was by both sets of wrestlers, I was disappointed in several Banks fans. Being the father of both a Buford Football player and a wrestler (2 different kids), I know there are a few Buford folks who can be out of control. For the most part though, the people I hang with a are very respectful and have good sportsmanship.
I am not going to say all Banks fans were rude, because they weren't. However, when one woman is yelling our kids and parents in the stands "yall going to be crying all the way home" and "yall are a bunch of spoiled babies" before the match n I was a bit concerned. My concerns came to reality when she starting cussing those kids out, because, what I can only assume, they were cheering our wrestlers on. Then, after it was clear Banks was going to need a miracle to win, another parent started saying we were cheating, and tried to start a fight in the stands. Finally, when we were down on the floor for the ceremony, the same woman was yelling something about "white trash". We also had parents get "talked to" in the parking lot on their way out to their cars.
I know these are a small few, and not the general Banks Cty fans. Most of y'all were great. I love your enthusiasm for your kids. You have a great program, and many of our Buford fans wanted to be loud for our kids this weekend after what we saw from you last weekend. I was equally impressed that you had your Youth and JV squads there cheering your team on. Something else Buford can learn from.
I just wish I would have seen some of the good Banks folks restrain the bad ones from acting like fools.
Good luck to all your kids as they ready for Traditionals, look forward to seeing you then.
