Drivers can now only run for 1 championship. You can not chase two championships ie.. Nationwide and Sprint Cup, you must choose only 1. But i think other than being in the top 12 in points to qualify for the Sprint championship , you should also at least win one sprint cup race. One of these yrs we will have some guy who never won a sprint race that yr as a sprint champion, How can you be a end of the yr champion if you never won a race?
Also like to see the final chase point system changed but thats another arguement for another time
There has already been people to win the championship without winning a race. Most notable, Terry Labonte 1995. I like it because it shows who can run in the front consistently, instead of running for the win or nothing. If this was the case, how many drivers would have been in the chase this year that met both requirements? Not many, I can tell you that.
