Big Man Back for Vidalia

One of the best big men in the country among the Class of 2004 is Eric McClendon from Vidalia, Georgia. McClendon is a monster at 6-6 and 288 pounds. He plays defensive tackle and offensive guard and runs in the 4.9 range.

"He's tall, but he's real flexible," Vidalia Head Coach Sid Fritts said to Scott Kennedy of "He doesn't have any trouble getting low, so I think he can be a great defensive tackle on the next level."

Last season as a junior, McClendon recorded 58 tackles, 6 sacks, 8 tackles for a loss, 15 QB pressures and forced 2 fumbles.

"I think I intimidate a lot of guys out there because of my size and speed," McClendon said. "Teams are very surprised I can move so well for being so big and fast, I have good skills and I can stop the run or rush the passer. On offense, I play guard and I pull and trap a lot."

McClendon is also very strong. He bench presses 375, squats 565 and power cleans 340. He plans on attending the Nike Camp at Auburn next month.
