Another offensive tackle has emerged as a player to watch for the Class of 2004. Towns County product Robbie Elliot is a 6-7 and 295 pound right tackle that will get some serious looks this summer and fall.
"He plays right tackle for us," said Towns County Head Coach Jeff Stowers. "He plays basketball too. He weighed about 255 during basketball season, and he's already put 40 pounds or so back on this spring to get ready for football. He weighed 320 pounds as a freshman. Now he's about the same weight, just in great shape. I think he's planning on going to Georgia and Georgia Southern camps this summer. Coach Van Gorder has spoken with him from Georgia. Western Carolina has been recruiting him early too. We're kind of a small school, so we don't normally have too many visitors."
Traffic at Towns County could very well pick up as word gets out about the big lineman. Elliot has attended one combine already, and he could be headed to more.
Elliot was at the Baptist Sports Medicine Combine, and he may make a trip to the Nike Camp at Auburn. His personal best forty time is 5.0. He has a huge frame, and he is in excellent condition because of his work on the hard court. While he doesn't have any formal offers yet, a player of this size and ability will have plenty of options before it's all said and done.
