GA QB gets invite to Vegas

Calvin Booker is an excellent quarterback prospect with a rifle for an arm. Although the Nike Camp was rained out last month, Booker got a chance to work out with the rest of the quarterbacks after the camp was over. He impressed the coaches working the camp enough to get an invite to the next camp in Las Vegas that will prelude the Elite 11 camp in California later this summer.

Booker will be in the Governor's Honors Program when the camp is scheduled in June, but he thinks he will be able to get away for the weekend to compete with the nation's best for a shot at the prestigious Elite 11 Camp.

"I threw the ball pretty well on Sunday," said Booker. "The hardest throw we had to make was the 15 yard out. When we started making that throw on the run, I felt like I was able to stand out a little bit."

Booker is still a bit of an unknown to college recruiters, because he has had three different head coaches in three years, but he has all of the tools. He is looking at several regional schools.

"I want to go see some schools like Louisville, Kentucky, Florida, Florida State, and Georgia. Georgia Tech was recruiting me, but I'm not sure how hard they are looking at me any more. I'm pretty much wide open though."

With the camp season starting in June, Booker is planning on hitting as many camps as possible in the first two weeks of the month. He didn't get a spring practice with the coaching change, but he will get ample opportunity to show what he can do on the camp circuit.
