South GA DB has a load of offers

Parkview has become the reigning king of Georgia High School football with three straight State Championships, but before the Panthers, there was the Valdosta Wildcats. Valdosta is ready to regain what they feel is their rightful place at the top of the mountain in Georgia. Helping to lead the charge is safety Carlton Williams.

"We got to the second round last year," said Williams. "We're planning on getting back to the State Championship this year. We're returning five or six players on defense, and just about everyone on offense. I think we are losing two linemen."

Williams was a standout performer for the Wildcats last year, and this year he could be just plain lethal.

"I played at 180 pounds last year. I'm at 200 pounds now, and I'm still running a 4.6. I had three interceptions last year, and I might play some receiver this year."

At 6-3 and 200 pounds with a 4.6 forty, Williams is getting a lot of early attention from colleges across the south. He has the frame to play outside linebacker or safety.

"I've gotten early offers from Louisville, South Carolina, Florida State, Central Florida, and Auburn. I'm going to Florida State and Georgia camps this summer. I'd kind of like to stay close to home so I'm looking at teams like Florida State, Florida, and Miami. After those three, I'd probably list Georgia and Tennessee."

Williams is a 3.0 student that also played basketball for Valdosta last season. He averaged 11.5 points on the season from his small forward position.
