Three schools win GHSA alignment appeals

Three schools that appealed the Georgia High School Association's statewide realignment plan convinced officials of the merit of their appeals, though twelve schools were denied.

Stone Mountain High School, Social Circle High School and Peachtree Ridge High School won their appeals.

Stone Mountain will play in Regiona 5-AAAA instead of 6-AAAA. Social Circle will be in Region 8-A rather than Region 7-A, while Peachtree Ridge, a new Gwinnett County school, will play against natural rivals, Collins Hill, North Gwinnett, and Duluth in Region 7-AAAAA, rather than in Region 8-AAAAA.

The 12 schools that lost their realignment appeals are Etowah, Greater Atlanta Christian, Mount Paran Christian, Mount Zion , Oglethorpe County, Providence Christian Academy, Sprayberry, Temple, The Walker School, Wesleyan, Westlake, and Westminster.
