Chris Covington is one of the top athletes in the state of GA this year. He plays running back, corner and return man for Brookwood as well as baseball. He was one of Brookwood's lone bright spots in the State Title game against Parkview last season when he returned a kick off for a touchdown. On the season, he had 1,100 yards rushing, 350 receiving yards, 12 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. He plays centerfield for the Brookwood baseball team, and he is getting a lot of interest in both sports.
"I don't have any offers for football yet," said Covington.
"Georgia has offered me for baseball though. South Carolina, Maryland,
Clemson, and Vanderbilt are the teams recruiting me he hardest right now. I was
getting letters from South Carolina almost every other day this summer. I went
to camps at South Carolina, Vanderbilt, MTSU, and Georgia this summer."
Covington is a good student and will have no trouble qualifying. He was named
All-County at defensive back and All-State as a kick returner last season, and
he will be one of the most exciting players in the state this year.
