Trojans want a Region 1-AAAAA win

One more season and one more chance for the Lee County Trojans to do something they have never a Region 1-AAAAA game.

"We've not won a ballgame in Region, and we want to go out with a bang," Lee County Head Coach Frank Vohun says. "Now, if we can win a couple and get into the playoffs, that would be a double milestone for us."

Coming off a disappointing 1-9 campaign last year, the Trojans do look poised to not only compete with the best the region has to offer, but pick up solid wins along the way.

"The battle cry is intensity," added Vohun. "Our guys want to be a better football team that's capable of winning some games."

Vohun will turn to the trenches to help put the wins in the book. Lee County has three seniors on the offensive line in 2003, making that the strength of this years team.

"Winning is pretty important to us," Senior lineman Lewis Brooks says. "Everybody down in the trenches wants to win in a bad way, we are excited about the challenge of paving the way this season." Reclassification will effect the Trojans, in 2004, Lee County will compete in AAAA. But right now they're not thinking about that....the mission at hand is leaving Region 1-AAAAA a winner, something these Trojans feel they can do. "Everybody is hungry," added Brooks. "The attitude has completely changed....everybody wants to win, we're all on the same page, and we're all ready to get the season started." The Trojans open up their season September 5th when they host AA power Americus. A match-up that could easily set the tone for what Lee County hopes is a season full of firsts.
