Crisp Signal Caller Solid in 2003

Last Friday, Crisp County scored seven touchdowns through the air and one on the ground. Many of those trips to the end zone in the 52-23 win over Lee County were turned in by a single senior quarterback.

Joe Joe Brown, Crisp senior signal caller, is used to these numbers. He's been proving his value for several years.

"Joe Joe is solid," says Crisp Head Coach Clay Hill. "He has a strong arm and he's fast....two deadly skills to have at the high school level."

Last season Brown completed 207 passes for nearly 2,300 yards and 19 touchdowns. With 20 seniors including Joe Joe, similar numbers are expected by the high flying Cougar attack.

"Having so many upperclassman makes my job easier," says Brown. "It makes all the difference in the world. If I have to call a hot route, these guys who I have played with for two and three years know what to do."

Crisp County Head Coach Clay Hill agrees with Brown's comments 100 percent. "In our offense, the quarterback position is so important, and with Joe Joe there, we know we'll get good play because he believes in the guys around him."

At 6'3, 191 lbs, Brown is a clear-cut college prospect. Plenty of colleges from around the country have him on their list. For many, that would be a distraction, but not for Brown.

"Right now I'm just concerned with getting ready for the next game," says Brown. "When the season is over, I'll think about college and stuff; right now it's not a distraction."
