Valdosta not looking past Tift

It's still two weeks away, but it's never too early to talk about the annual Lowndes-Valdosta game. But if you ask Valdosta Head Coach Rick Darlington about the game, he's quick to point out there's still a game before the Winnersville Classic.

"We haven't talked about Lowndes as a team. The kids may be talking about it with themselves, but we need to get them one game at a time."

Valdosta is coming off a big, and much needed win against Charlton County on October 3rd, but their momentum quickly shifted as the Cats were off this past week.

"We didn't lose focus", says Darlington, "But I'd assume we just play every week. We don't care to take a week off."

Valdosta has five games remaining on the schedule including the Tift game. At 2-3, the Cats can ill afford to slip up now. After Tift, there is Lowndes, then at Lee County, and then two straight home games with Colquitt County and Coffee County.

"Tift County is a big game", says Darlington, "they are a region team. we'll be ready to go. we need to win these region games and if we do, we'll control our own destiny."
