Valdosta controls its own destiny in final weeks

After the first four games of the season, Valdosta Head Coach Rick Darlington was scratching his head wondering what was going on. He said from day one that this team would come around, and boy have they.

After Friday nights victory at Lowndes, Valdosta is now in the drivers seat, leading the region, and hoping to keep their streak going this Friday at Lee County.

"We still have three tough ones to go", says Valdosta Head Coach Rick Darlington, "Lee County is trying to get a piece of us. Colquitt County and Coffee County are traditional powers...we still have a lot of work cut out for us."

So here's the drill for the Cats...three wins, and they are district champs.

"By no means is this over", says Darlington, "the other teams know that if they beat us and Lowndes beat them, then there's a three way tie for the region title. We control our own destiny."

Just when it looked like the region title would go to Lowndes, Valdosta has put a wrinkle in the system and all the Vikings can do is cheer for Lee, Colquitt, and Coffee County, because Lowndes knows, their road to the title can only happen if Valdosta slips up.
