Clinch County tries to clinch trip to title game

Clinch County Head Coach Cecil Barber knows a thing or two about high school football. As one of the true veterans of the sport, Barber always seems to have his teams ready for the post season.

This weekend, the Panthers are back in the Georgia Dome where they'll meet up with Hawkinsville.

At 11-1-1 overall, 4-0 in the region, the Panthers are as good as anyone. We're not talking about the Panther offense, they are pretty good.

The defense, well that's a thing of beauty. Clinch's defense has allowed 16 points one time this season in a loss, but in the teams 11 wins is 6 shutouts.

Round one of the post season was ugly, Clinch County was unstoppable on offense and relentless on defense in a 6-0 mauling of Montgomery County. The last two weeks, the offense hasn't been there, but you can blame a lot of that on the cold weather.

Round two had Clinch winning 15-9 and last week 14-8. This is a team that can put up some points, but so is Hawkinsville. You can't blame the weather in the Dome, so this one could either be a shootout, or one of the all time great defensive battles of the weekend.
