Live from Valdosta, It's Saturday Night.

For the 29th time in the history of the football program, Valdosta High School will play for the state championship. Bazemore-Hyder stadium has played host to more state title games than any stadium in the state, and it'll add another this Saturday night when the Wildcats play host to undefeated Camden County.

Head Coach Rick Darlington had a few goals when he came in from Apopka. He's already won the regional championship, now the Cats are one win away from one of the biggest mid season turnarounds in history.

"It's been a great season", says Darlington, "Our kids bought into the program and into the coaches. The kids and the coaches were unified, even when we were losing. Our harvest time is here, and it's on Saturday."

Preparations are already underway for the city of Valdosta to take the day off for the game on Saturday night. It's by far the biggest game in years and Coach Darlington plans to get nostalgic about it all.

"I have always been a big fan of Coach Bazemore and Hyder. It's very humbling right now. God's plan is bigger than my plan. I'm happy to be a part of winning football."

Valdosta is in Saturdays title game with a defensive masterpiece against Westside-Macon last weekend. It's the defense that has the Cats playing for a state title, and defense is the name of the game in any Rick Darlington coached team.

"It's a whole new defensive system. It's been a great job by the coaches to get the kids to believe. We are playing our best defense right now."
