2004 Boys Golf Playoff Preview

This class is wide open this year. Cedartown High School will host the AAA tournament at Meadow Lakes Golf Club in what should be an exciting event! With school classification changes over the past few years, the winners of seven state titles in the last four years will be competing for one top spot this season.

Richmond Academy is the defending champion in AAA and should be strong again this year. Savannah Christian won five titles in a row from 1998-2002, and has the top ranked amateur player in the nation in Brian Harman. Look for Harman and company to make a run at the title. The scary thing is that Harman is only a junior, so 2005 looks good for the Blue Jackets as well.

Don't forget about Cartersville, who has moved up from AA, where they won three titles in row from 2000-2002. Although seniors Harrison Gaylord and Jake Tripp are playing well, the rest of the team is made up of a freshman, a sophomore and two juniors. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but look for the Purple Hurricanes to contend in 2005 and 2006.

Team - Savannah Christian
Individual - Brian Harman (Savannah Christian)
