Road Trip - East Hall

East Hall is a traditional basketball power that is going to make some noise on the football field this year as well. There are several players to keep an eye on at East Hall this year.

I went to East Hall on Thursday to put a watch on several of their players. On a gorgeous Thursday morning we went out on the track and put the kids through the paces. The players ran two forty yard dashes in each direction, and a few players showed the size and speed to get a look from college coaches as well.

Keldrick Coleman

The player with the most physical ability to shine on the next level is Keldrick Coleman. Coleman is an excellent basketball player, but as a 6-2 and 200 pounds pivot man, his best option for playing ball on the next level will be on the gridiron. Coleman has a 39 inch vertical leap as measured at TheInsiders/MSL Combine, and he ran a 4.65 forty for me on Thursday. He has an excellent size/speed ratio for the college game.

Travis Stevens was another player that stood out at TheInsiders/MSL Combine. One of the things I liked about him

Travis Stevens

besides his size at 6-4 and 220 pounds, was his demeanor. When he lined up against the linebacker in the one on one drills, he expected to beat them, and he did. He repped 185 24 times at MSL. He ran a 4.97 for me on the track, but he actually ran better than that on a slick surface at MSL.

East Hall has two underclassmen that are going to need to be watched as well. Keith McClary is a rock solid 5-10 and 190 pound running back/linebacker. He is going to be a member of the Class of '06. He ran 4.72 for me on

Keith McClary

Thursday, and his coaches said that he makes plays all over the field.

Walter Hill is just an upcoming sophomore, but he is going to be the starting quarterback. At 6-3 and 195 pounds, Hill has an excellent frame, and he is a long striding 4.71 forty guy. He didn't look like he was moving that fast, and then I'd look down at my watch and be surprised every time (he ran under 4.8 three times). Hill is only going to get bigger, stronger, and faster. It's hard to believe he is only a freshman right now.

Marquez Jackson is a small receiver that is big on production. He is a point guard for the basketball team, and he is quick out of his cuts.

East Hall has some good size and speed, and they have playmakers on both sides of the ball. They have long been known as a basketball school, but there is going to be some good football played in Gainesville this year as well.
