Class AA - Region 6
Calhoun is the preseason favorite to capture the region title again. With quarterback Cody Worley and athlete A.J. Baker returning, there is enough talent for the Yellow Jackets to win the region.
But Adairsville, which finished as the region runner-up and advanced to the second round of the playoffs, should make a run at the region title. Quarterback Drew Elrod is back to lead the offense. Skill players Tarvis Scott at wide receiver and running back Matt Sharp also return. Sharp and Brock Pyle are solid at linebacker.
Lafayette failed to make the postseason in Class AAAA, but the Ramblers should fare better in Class AA. There is enough talent to help them contend.
Pepperell also struggled last season in the rugged Region 6-AAA. But the Dragons have a solid nucleus to build around as quarterback Cody Evans returns to direct the offense.
Model made the playoffs last season and should be a contender once again as well as Coosa.
Darlington lost a lot from its 2003 team and shouldn't figure into the Region 6-AA race. Despite returning most of its players, Dade County is expected to be improved but not enough to challenge for the postseason.
Rockmart, Armuchee and Chattooga should have a
tough time making the playoffs.
