Class AAAAA - Region 5

Perhaps no other region across the state features more parity. No one in Region 5 beat Walton last season, but the Raiders are gone, leaving Harrison as their probable successors. Five other teams finished at or above .500 and within two games of each other in the region standings. Add Pebblebrook, who went 7-4 in Class AAAA last season, and several strong programs will be missing the playoffs.

Even though Harrison returns just three offensive starters, it's tough to imagine the Hoyas joining that group since they've been to the playoffs the last 10 years.

Campbell looks poised to pull off some big upsets after they nearly beat Harrison (24-19) last season.

McEachern and North Cobb both lost top offensive players, but return strong, experienced defenses.

South Cobb will be a force offensively with quarterback quarterback Kenny McKinley and wide receiver Devontate Hann, perhaps the top wideout in the region.

Pebblebrook will lean on fullback Matthew Mann, who piled up 1,132 yards last season.

Marietta must replace several college signees.

Kennesaw Mountain and Osborne remain in rebuilding modes.
