Class AAAAA - Region 8

It may have been shrunken to eight teams, but Region 8 should still be feared. State powers Parkview and Brookwood remain and South Gwinnett, who reached the state quarterfinals last season, joins the league.

Parkview's record winning streak was stopped at 46 by Brookwood in 2003, but the Panthers return another group of talented skill players, including Chattahoochee transfer Jeff Witt at quarterback and tight end Stephen Gowland, a Division I prospect.

Brookwood will be anchored by Clayton Clain, who can dominate at either tight end or fullback. Linemen Andrew Hackney and Brian Truelove will be forces, too.

South Gwinnett coach T. McFerrin is looking for win No. 300 this season with only seven returning starters and several new skill players.

Grayson moves up from Class AAAA after a 6-4 season and Central Gwinnett and Shiloh will contend for playoff spots. Meadowcreek is still a couple years away from being competitive.

Berkmar went winless in 2003 and even significant improvement probably won't result in a playoff berth.
