Atlanta Athlete is One To Watch

The city of Atlanta produces so many great athletes that sometimes they fall through the cracks. Michael Bibbs of Washington High School is a player I watched play this year and knew he would end up being recruited down the stretch. I checked in with him this week to confirm my initial analysis.

"Yes, I'm hearing from a bunch of schools," said Michael Bibbs. "Minnesota, Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, and West Virginia are the main ones. I have a visit set up to Arkansas on January 21st. I'm trying to get visits set up with Minnesota, Alabama, Alabama A&M, and Eastern Kentucky right now."

Bibbs just took his SAT two weeks ago, and that may be why he has been slow to be offered official visits. Based on his PSAT score though, Bibbs should have no trouble qualifying.

Although football season is over, Bibbs has been keeping busy.

"We just started playing basketball. I had 29 against Southwest Atlanta Christian this week."

And Football?

"I had six interceptions this year. I don't know how many tackles I had this year, but I had 16 in one game from my corner spot. My coach said I was smart enough to cheat in when I saw a run coming."

Bibbs is big enough at 205 pounds, that he projects as a safety, or even a linebacker on the next level. Scary thought for a player athletic enough to play corner at Booker T. Washington this year.
