Class AAAAA - Region 3
No Class AAAAA team has dominated its region as consistently over the past few years as Camden County, partly because the Wildcats are loaded with talent and partly because the other teams in the region aren't.
Camden County was pushed by Bradwell Institute in a 14-12 win last season, but a 32-point margin of victory was the power's closest region game against the other eight region foes. The Wildcats reload with athletes year after year and this year a pack of strong runners return, led by Brandon West's 1,276 yards and 19 TDs from a year ago. On defense, senior lineman Kevin McNeil (6-2, 236) and junior linebacker William Johnson are difference-makers.
Bradwell Institute tested Camden last season, but the loss of a very strong senior class will make it hard to repeat that feat.
Glynn Academy, if it can build depth on the line to go with running back Greg Peacock, is the favorite to finish second behind Camden.
Brunswick, led by versatile running back/wide receiver Robert Thomas, will fight it out with Bradwell for a playoff spot in a region where the Savannah schools frequently struggle. Groves and Beach are the best of the Savannah programs and Windsor Forest, Jenkins, Johnson and Savannah also will battle to move up in the region standings.
