Foster to train for U-19 in California

Ashley Foster, a rising senior at Clarke Central, was one of 26 players chosen nationally to attend the final training camp for the U.S. Under-19 Women's National Team in Chula Vista, Calif.

The invitation from Head coach Tracey Leone qualifies her to be considered for the inaugural 2002 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championships in Canada. Leone will choose 18 for the team and four alternates.

Last week Foster was in Montevallo, Alabama participating in the Olympic Development Program regional camp. She will return to Athens in time to depart for California Sunday.

Foster played on the Gwinnett Soccer Association Phoenix Red U-17 team that won the 2002 Snickers Southern Regional Championships on June 28-July 2 in Little Rock, Ark.
