Preview: North Oconee Titans

North Oconee is returning everyone on offense and defense. With a new coach, new system, and a new schedule for the Titans first senior class, they look to avenge their first 2 years of winning one game.

On defense, their defensive line is anchored by senior DT Justin Dye ( 6'4'', 260 lbs.) and senior DE Cory Dickey ( 6'3'', 220 lbs.), their linebacker unit is led by junior MLB Neal Smith ( 5'10'', 180 lbs.) and while lacking depth, they still have quickness at this position. The secondary is led by senior FS/KR/PR Eli Crawford ( 6'1'' 190 lbs.) who is fast and hard-nosed and was moved from his linebacker position this year to help piece the defensive backfield that was a weak point for the Titans last year, also anchoring the secondary is cornerback Sean O'Carroll.

The starting depth chart looks like this for the defense. Colleges interested in the players are listed after their names:

  • SDE- Cory Dickey, Sr., 6'3'' 220 lbs.( Georgia Military College, Valdosta State)
  • DT- Justin Dye, Sr., 6'4'' 260 lbs. ( Furman, Duke, Vanderbilt, Valdosta State)
  • NG- Blake Strickland, Sr., 5'11'' 230 lbs.
  • WDE- Spence Dalton, Sr., 6'2'' 210 lbs.
  • SLB- Johnny Strickland, Sr., 5'9'' 175 lbs.
  • MLB- Neal Smith, Jr., 5'10'' 180 lbs.
  • WLB- Jake Osborne, Jr., 5'11'' 185 lbs.
  • CB- Sean O'Carroll, Sr., 5'11'' 170 lbs.
  • FS- Eli Crawford, Sr., 6'1'' 190 lbs. ( Jacksonville State, Furman, Duke, Vanderbilt, Richmond, Clemson, Presbyterian)
  • SS- Trey Noel, Sr., 6'0'' 175 lbs. ( Valdosta State, Eastern Kentucky)
  • CB- Justin Roberts, Sr., 5'9'' 175 lbs. ( Justin Roberts is also a baseball recruit who will most likely sign to play baseball)

On offense, the Titans are led by new coach Terry Tuley who was the offensive coordinator for the Titans the previous two years, and the two year starter at QB, David Firth (6'2'' 180 lbs.) The Titans showed much improvement over the past two years, especially with the comeback of junior FB Caleb Mooney ( 5'10'' 190 lbs.) who was the offensive MVP last year after holding the most all- purpose yards. The Titans offensive line is led by senior OT Brian Holloway ( 6'5'' 270 lbs.) junior C Aldarious Lyles ( 5'8'' 220 lbs.) and senior TE Ben Lowering ( 6'1'' 205 lbs.) The backfield is led by QB David Firth ( 6'2'' 180 lbs.) and senior HB Stephen Smith ( 6'3'' 180 lbs.) The receiving unit is anchored by senior WR Bryson Smith ( 6'1'' 180 lbs.) who can also play corner and might have to step in at that position.

Here is the projected depth chart for the Titans offense. Once again the college choices are out to the side:

  • TE- Ben Lowering, Sr., 6'1'' 205 lbs. (Eastern Kentucky, Samford, Presbyterian)
  • OT- Brian Holloway, Sr., 6'5'' 270 lbs. (Auburn, Jacksonville State, Alabama, Georgia, West Georgia)
  • OG- Embree Wilson, Sr., 6'0'' 195 lbs.

  • OT- John McCaskey, Sr., 6'4'' 255 lbs. ( Duke, Tennessee State)
  • QB- David Firth, Jr., 6'2'' 180 lbs.
  • FB- Caleb Mooney, Jr., 5'10'' 190 lbs.
  • HB- Stephen Smith, Sr., 6'3'' 180 lbs. ( Smith is an all-state goalie and will probably sign his letter of intent to play soccer)
  • WR- Bryson Smith, Sr., 6'1'' 180 lbs. ( Bryson is all- state as well as a baseball player and will probably play college baseball)
  • WR- Will Kennimer, Sr., 6'5'' 190 lbs. ( Kennimer will sign to play college basketball)
