Thomas County Central's Thunder and Lightning

Thomas County Central had a very good season in 2005 with a 10-2 record with the only blemishes on their record being a one point loss to Region Champ Lee County and a touchdown loss to State Finalist Northside Warner Robins. The Yellow Jackets will be back for more in large part because of their dynamic duo at running back, junior Debrale Smiley and senior Chester Hightower.

Last season Debrale Smiley and Chester Hightower combined to rush for 2,400 yards. Smiley was the workhorse of the two with 20 touchdowns and 1,400 yards, but on nights when Smiley was contained, Hightower was right there to bust loose.

That was the case against Colquitt County when Hightower broke out for 265 yards and three touchdowns... in the second half.

They are a true thunder and lightning combination. Smiley is listed at 5-11 and 225 pounds, and he runs with terrific balance and power. Hightower is the smaller of the two, but can get to the corner with ease and has great balance in traffic.

Thomas County Central will rely heavily on its two running backs as they are losing all five starters on the offensive line.

Thomas County Central is not a team that opponents want to fall behind on, because they'll see a steady dose of Smiley pounding it between the tackles as the Yellow Jackets burn up the clock. That game plan was evident when Thomas County Central took on Bainbridge.

Bainbridge tried to mount a comeback against the Yellow Jackets, but in the end, the duo of Smiley and Hightower overwhelmed them.

It's a safe bet that college coaches across the country will be headed to Thomasville to check these two out all fall.
