Blue Devils start season with new facilties

Marietta Blue Devils will be enjoying something old and something new this football season, in addition to the 'something blue' they traditionally don. The Devils will be practicing in the sparkling new facilities as they move into the new high school, but they will continue to play games in the old stadium. </p>

Coach James (Friday) Richards doesn't see the split as a negative. He played in the old stadium himself during the 1970's and believes the quaint stadium provides great tradition.

Regardless, the team will be creating a tradition at the new school. The athletic facilties include three fields outside the athletic offices, as well as locker and trainer facilities that cost $3 million.

The convenient facilties eliminates the car pooling the team was required to do last year when they traveled to the old high school for practice. Travel time cut down on practice time and Richards believes the team lost focus because of it.
