Swainsboro DE Holding Four Offers

While there are several defensive end prospects to watch out for in the class of 2007, Dwight Smith from Swainsboro High, may be the most talented sleeper in the Peach State. At 6-foot-2, 249 pounds, Smith has a handful of scholarship offers including two in-state.

Dwight Smith has put together a strong senior season which has resulted in offers from Furman, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Southern, and Fort Valley State.

We first saw Smith in the Screven County match-up last Friday night. He finished with eleven tackles in the Tigers' 14-7 win over the Gamecocks.

He is getting looks from a number of major college programs including Louisville, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Georgia.

Clemson also has been showing Smith some attention. He took an unofficial visit to Death Valley in October.

"I went to the Clemson-Georgia Tech game," Smith said. "I liked the atmosphere down there. I like the tradition. They're recruiting me pretty hard and I really like that too."

Smith has one official visit in mind and would like to take at least three more.

"I still haven't set up any of my offical visits yet," he said. "I plan on taking an official visit to Clemson in January. I want to visit Middle Tennessee, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. I want to take all five of my visits."

Smith is a 2006 two-time team player of the week, five-time defensive player of the week, and two weeks ago, he was named Middle Georgia defensive player of the week.

He is currently focused on three programs.

"I'm really looking at Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Florida right now," said Smith.
