First Half ReCap
Top open the second half, Bryan Ellis remained hot as he led the team down
before Duranzo Brown finished off the drive with a touchdown run. Peach County
went for two after the score. The first attempt failed, but a roughing the
passer penalty gave the Trojans another shot, and they capitalized to make the
score 29-26 as Peach County took the lead for the first time.
Both teams traded interceptions later in the third quarter before Washington
County got a sustained drive going. Again, they made a living going off right
tackle with their two senior running backs. A holding penalty wiped out a Walls
run to the one yardline, and the third quarter ended with Peach County leading
Washington County 29-26.
The penalty wiped out the first and goal, but Dykel Johnson's third field goal
of the game knotted the score at 29 with 11:49 left to play in the game.
Peach County wasn't phased as they took the next drive right down the field, and
Duranzo Brown took a Bryan Ellis handoff and sprinted 35 yards for another
touchdown. The PAT was successful and Peach took a 36-29 lead with just under 10
minutes to play in the game.
Motivated by the offense, the Peach County defense rose to challenge and forced
a three and out by the Golden Hawks.
Peach County's ground game took over from there. Broan and junior Mareo Howard
took turns gaining big chunks of yards as the Trojans moved the ball, and more
importantly, ate clock.
Having softened up the defense, Ellis ran a little play action bootleg and found
Udom Umoh in the endzone for a score that put Peach County up 42-29 with four
minutes left on the clock.
Washington County took a shot downfield early on its next possession, but for
all intents and purposes, this one was over when Umoh caught the ball in the
