Dublin wasted little time taking its opening possession straight down the field for a touchdown. Jamon Morris took put the ball in the endzone on a pass play for a 7-0 lead on a drive that only took 3:20 off the clock.
Lovett was forced to punt on its first possession, and Dublin went right down
the field again. A long Brian Wilcher run for the Irish set up a one yard plunge
by Thomas Barnes. A PAT made it 14-0. Two possessions, two touchdowns. Six
minutes gone in the game and Dublin led 14-0.
Three possessions, three scores... This time Wilcher took it in himself as
Dublin pushed its lead to 21-0 in the first quarter.
A strong kickoff return by junior running back Andre Hicks breathed some life
into the Lovett crowd as the Lions punched their way into Dublin territory for
the first time. The good field position paid off as running back West Barnwell
put Lovett on the board with 8:34 left in the half with a hard earned touchdown
run. 21-7 Dublin.
It didn't take long for the Irish to answer, a little over a minute to be exact.
Jamon Morris went 45 yards off left end for the Irish's fourth touchdown in four
trys. 28-7 Dublin.
As if the Irish needed more help, Lovett fumbled the ensuing kickoff right into
the arms of a Dublin player. No reason to break form. Wilcher punched another
one in to make it 35-7 Dublin.
Feeling a little left out, the Dublin passing game came alive as quarterback Ben Cochran for Dublin found Brandon Taylor for yet another score. The PAT was
blocked, and Dublin took a 41-7 lead into the half.
