Peachtree Ridge got the ball first, but it was Warner Robins that drew first blood. Quarterback Mark Wright Jr. engineered a drive deep into Lion territory that included a run of his own. Peachtree Ridge held three times when the Demons had goal to go, but it was the 4th and goal that got Dewayne Jackson into the endzone for a 7-0 Warner Robins lead.
Peachtree Ridge settled down after its initial position and gained some first
downs, but were not able to really threaten Warner Robins in the first quarter.
The Demons looked to be mounting another drive when they put the ball on the
turf and the Lions recovered.
Peachtree Ridge failed to convert on the turnover when they lost the ball on
downs after a fake punt failed to convert near midfield. Warner Robins took over
with 11 minutes left in the half, still holding a 7-0 lead.
The Lion defense rose to the challenge though and dropped Wright for a sack that
forced a Warner Robins punt. Peachtree Ridge wasn't able to muster any offense,
but their kicking game helped them win the battle of field position. After
swapping punts, the Lions found themselves first and 10 on the Warner Robins 34
with four minutes left in the half.
Peachtree Ridge was able parlay its good field position into a Drew Butler field
goal with 1:04 left in the half.
As the half came to a close, Warner Robins led Peachtree Ridge 7-3
