The recruiting process has slowed down a bit according to Lincoln County's Darell Norman. He may not be getting the attention that he was a couple of months ago, but some solid DI schools are still keeping in contact with him.
In fact, the 5-foot-10, 181-pound running back is taking an official visit to UAB this weekend and coach Tyson Summers, the linebackers coach, is recruiting Norman very hard for UAB.
"I'm going to UAB this Friday," said Norman. "I'm going to find out as much as I can about coach (Neil) Callaway and his coaching staff. I really like coach Summers and everything I've been told about the other coaches. I have some questions about the football program and things like that."
"I also want to find out as much as I can about their academics. I want find out about classes, campus, the atmosphere and things like that."
Norman currently holds offers from Middle Tennessee, Troy, UAB, Ball State and Cincinnati. Middle Tennessee is also talking to him about an official visit. With signing day coming up February 7th, Norman is still wide open and he may not be close to deciding either.
"I'm just waiting to see if anything else comes along," Norman said. "I want to see if another school comes through with an offer. I'm not sure when I'll make a decision. I really have no idea at this point. Things are a lot slower right now for some reason."
There are still some schools out there that Norman would like to hear from.
"I like Alabama, Clemson, North Carolina State and Florida State."
Norman finished with 1,167 yards rushing on 108 carries and 13 touchdowns which helped Lincoln County to a back-to-back state championship. The Red Devils defeated Clinch County 21-14 in this year's championship game and Washington-Wilkes 25-0 in last year's Championship game.
He was named first team All-State and played in the GACA North-South All-Star game in Columbus, Ga.
