Flowery Branch WR Makes a Decision

Flowery Branch wide receiver/safety prospect Devin Reed visited a D1-AA school in the Southern Conference last weekend and decided to make a decision on his recruiting process. Look inside GAVSV.com to find out which team Reed committed to during his weekend visit.

At 6-foot-1, 165-pounds, Devin Reed is a good athlete with (4.5) speed and agility who went both ways at wide receiver and free safety for Flowery Branch. After his first official visit on Jan. 5th, Reed committed to one of the top Division 1-AA football programs in the Southern Conference.

"I just went on my official visit this weekend to Wofford and committed," said Reed. "I loved the way the guys on the team took me in. I mean they made me feel like a part of the team. I love their facility. The Jacksonville Jaguars train there. So its really a top-notch facility and the campus is beautiful. It was just the perfect fit for me."

Ron Antoine, the running backs coach, recruited Reed for the Terriers. The coaching staff played a big role in Reed's decision.

"Head Coach (Mike) Ayers has been there 18 years," said Reed. "Just the stability in that means a lot to me. I would be pretty upset if the coach that wanted me wasn't there. But with him being there 18 years, it's a pretty good bet that he's going to be there for the next four years."

Reed is getting interest from other D1-AA schools including UT-Chattanooga and Tennessee-Martin. There was even talk about him being a preferred walk-on at Georgia Tech.

A first-team All-Area selection, Reed had 42 receptions for 975 yards and 12 touchdowns. On defense, he had 106 tackles and 4 interceptions. He is getting looks by Wofford at wide receiver and safety, but it looks like he will get more playing time as a freshman on the defense.

Reed also played in the Georgia North-South All-Star game in Columbus on December 29th.

"It was a great experience," he said. "It really let's you see where your at. Your playing against the best athletes in the state. It was great getting to meet other college bound athletes and getting to hear what they had to say about their recruiting process. I enjoyed hanging out with those guys. My roommate was Chas Henry. We really hit it off. I got to be pretty close with Cole Brodie, Nick Claytor, C.J. Wood and some of those guys."
