The highly anticipated matchup between the Peach State's top ranked teams in Class AAAA turned into a second half eruption by the Columbia Eagles.   Columbia, the state's  No. 1 team, walked away with a 74-53 thumping of the No. 2 ranked Tucker Tigers.  The loss was the 1st of the season for the (16-1) Tigers while Columbia improves their record to (16-1).

Georgia signee Jeremy Price led all scorers with 21 points.  The 6-foot-9, center's huge presence underneath did even more to control the game against the under-sized Tigers as he collected 10 rebounds and blocked three shots.

The Eagles opened the game with a 10-2 run after Lance Storrs drained a three pointer from the top of the key.  However, a couple of technical fouls by the Eagles that included Price hanging on the rim after a dunk allowed the Tigers to get back into the game.

Eventually, Tucker would take a 5 point lead in the second quarter.  Senior Marshon Brooks started to heat up from the outside and it looked like the Tigers were ready to give the State's top ranked team all they wanted.  Tucker led at the half, 31-28.

"We played the way were capable of playing tonight," said Columbia Head Coach Phillip McCrary.  "We beat an outstanding basketball team.  We played with a lot of heart and we gave a 100 percent effort out there.  I'm proud of these kids."

The Eagles led by as many as 25 points in the 4th quarter and went on to win by 21 over the Tigers.
