Peach County's Bryan Ellis held the distinction of being the most accurate quarterback in the Peach State last season. Ellis finished with 3,600 yards passing and 31 touchdowns while throwing just 10 interceptions all year.
Even with outstanding statistics, the Middle Georgia Class AAA offensive player of the year wasn't receiving the attention that he deserved from college recruiters.
Ellis then capped his prep career with a MVP performance for the South All-Stars in the GACA Game on Dec. 29th. He proved he's one of the better quarterbacks in the Peach State by connecting on 12 of 21 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.
"It was an honor," Ellis said after the game. "I never thought I would do it and it's an honor just to be selected. It was nice to be able to come out here and play with these gifted athletes. It was a lot of fun. I enjoyed getting to know these guys and I'm looking forward to watching them play in the future."
Instead of getting frustrated, Ellis kept his head up, his voice down and let his play on the field do his talking.
Apparently his approach paid off. Now all eyes are on Bryan Ellis' future. He's become a magnet for a number of schools in the southeast and he just picked up offer number five.
"I'm going to Birmingham tonight after the game," said Ellis. "I've got an official visit with UAB. Coach (Tyson) Summers, the linebackers coach, has been recruiting me since they got there. A couple of other quarterbacks didn't pan out, so they offered me and I might wind up committing to them this weekend."
Ellis picked up his fifth offer from the in-state Eagles.
"I got an offer from Georgia Southern yesterday as well," he said. "It's going to be between UAB and Georgia Southern most likely, but I'm still talking to Presbyterian College and Valdosta."
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound signal caller holds offers from Presbyterian College, Valdosta State, GMC, UAB and Georgia Southern.
Ellis said he will be visiting Georgia Southern next weekend if he does not commit to UAB this weekend. Stay tuned to GAVSV.com for an update on Bryan Ellis and his visit to UAB on Sunday night.
