Last season, Cameron Demps had a standout junior season with the North Gwinnett Bulldogs. Now, he is with a new team and he's looking to do his part to make sure that Peachtree Ridge gets back to the playoffs.
"I think I can play a big role on this team," Demps said. "I can come in and help Brandon Davis out a little bit. I can come in and take some pressure off of him. I just want to compete and help get this team back to the playoffs."
Demps was one of a number of juniors in Gainesville at Florida's junior day on February 3rd. He and the other juniors saw the Gators basketball team defeat Tennessee 94-78 in front of a sold out crowd.
"It was good. It was exciting," Demps said. "The coaches were real nice. They did a good job of communicating with the players. I talked to Coach Billy Gonzales and Coach Stan Drayton. It was just a thrill to be down there."
Several top schools are starting to show interest in Demps.
When asked who his favorite is, Demps said, "I'm pretty much wide open right now. Probably one of the Florida teams. I really like Florida, Florida State, and Miami."
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound super athlete made 56 tackles from his defensive back position during his junior season. Demps blocked 4 punts and intercepted 7 passes for the Bulldogs.
What is Demps looking for in a school?
"A good football tradition and a good environment," said Demps. "Of course, a good relationship with the coaches is very important as well.
Demps is very fast with a reported 4.41 forty yard dash.
