Flowery Branch, Ga. quarterback Jaybo Shaw has begun to receive interest from a number of colleges after a spectacular junior season.
Shaw is a dual-threat quarterback who ended his junior season with 1,500 yards rushing and over 2,750 passing yards. He threw for 27 touchdowns and rushed for 20 more. He is an athlete/quarterback that is capable of playing multiple positions at the next level.
Clemson and Vanderbilt are recruiting him as an athlete, while Wake Forest is looking at him as a quarterback.
"We kind of run the same thing they do on offense," Shaw said about the Demon Deacons. "They are looking for a mobile quarterback that can run. They like the way I throw on the run and they like my footwork in the pocket."
Wake Forest offensive coordinator Steed Lobotzke is recruiting Shaw for the Deacons. He said he gets text messages and mail from them everyday and he has been invited to attend the Wake Forest Junior Day in April. Clemson and Vanderbilt invited Shaw to attend their Junior Days as well.
Flowery Branch is expected to continue using a run-oriented spread offense in 2007. A very good offensive line should be even better with the return of four starters.
"Our starting running back is also coming back," Shaw said. "Two of our receivers will be back, but we're going to need a couple of receivers to step up for us."
Shaw scored a 4.60 second 40-yard dash and a 4.22 second shuttle at the Kennedy/CES combine last Sunday. Right now, there are five schools that he likes the most.
