Roswell High wide receiver/safety prospect Garrett Embry is now up to two scholarship offers. Earlier this week, Central Florida joined Baylor in offering the 6-foot-2, 205-pound athlete.
"Baylor wants me to play wide receiver and UCF is recruiting me as an athlete," Embry said.
As a wideout, Embry caught 15 passes for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns. As a standout defensive back, he had 30 tackles, 3 interceptions and 10 knock-downs.
Embry received his latest offer from Central Florida shortly after visiting the University.
"I've visited them on their junior day. UCF was well put together. It's a smaller group. There was probably 50-60 people there, so Coach George O'Leary got to come around and see everyone there.
"All the junior days I've been to were real big, but this one was very small. We got to spend more time looking at the school and talking to the coaches. I really liked that a lot."
Other schools showing interest include Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Boston College and Northwestern.
According to Embry, distance and location won't be a major factor in his decision. He plans to take all of his visits before deciding on his list of favorites.
"I'm interested in anybody that's recruiting me," Embry said. "I'm wide open. It doesn't matter. East Coast, West Coast, it doesn't really matter to me. It's wherever I like the most.
"I'm going to consider atmosphere, definitely. Atmosphere is a big thing for me. Academics is a really big thing, especially for my parents. I want my family to be able to come see me play."
"I would preferably like to stay close to home, but if I visit a West Coast school and I really like it, then there is nothing to stop me from going there."
So far, Embry has visited Central Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech and South Carolina. He plans to visit Baylor on March 31st and he was invited to junior days at Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
