While most of the Peach State prospects vacationed out of town for Spring Break, Cameron Demps used his break to visit a good number of major programs throughout the Southeast.
The time on the road payed off in a big way for the 5-foot-9.5, 170-pounder.
"I got offered by Ole Miss today when we went to visit them," said Demps. "The Head Coach Ed Orgeron took me to his office and he said he wants to offer me."
Demps really enjoyed his trip to Oxford, Miss.
"They just showed me around campus. They showed me the facility, weight room, training room, academic center and everything. The atmosphere was great there. The students and the players showed me a lot of love. I just really liked it."
"The coaches were real nice. I really liked them a lot. They talked to me about playing at cornerback, safety and kick returner. Coach Orgeron is a cool coach. He's excited about football. He's just looking for the best players to be on the field and win."
Shortly after picking up an offer from Ole Miss, Demps received a text from Virginia Tech Coach Torrian Gray with some more good news.
"I just found out about that," Demps said. "Coach Gray just text me and told me to call him. He said they watched my film and they really liked it. Coach Frank Beamer liked it. Then he said they were going to offer me."
Virginia Tech is just one of three schools Demps visited last week.
"I really liked the campus. It was different. Coach Gray showed me around. He showed me the lunch room and the dorms."
"Coach Gray is a cool coach to be around. Plus he's been in the NFL, so he knows what he's talking about. He's the defensive backs coach and he recruits my area, so that was really good."
"The players were fun to be around. I got a chance to talk to them and everything. I really like their football program and the facility was very nice."
Demps said he's very excited to get his first two offers out of the way.
"It feels good," he said. "Now, all I've got to do is have a good senior season. I've just got to keep working hard."
When is he going to make a decision on his recruiting process?
"I really don't know," said Demps. "I'm just going to wait and see what happens."
