First Offer For Adam Urbano

Calhoun running back Adam Urbano just picked up his first scholarship offer from a program in the Sun Belt Conference. Earlier today, while vacationing in Florida, Urbano got a phone call from his Head Coach delivering the good news. He talked to GAVSV.com about receiving his first offer.

"My Coach (Hal Lamb) called me and told me I had my first offer on the table," said Urbano. "He told me that Troy University had offered and he gave me the phone number of Coach Tony Franklin. He's the Offensive Coordinator there."

"I called him and he said they just wanted to extend me an offer. He said they saw me at the Nike training camp and he saw a highlight tape of me.  He said he knew that I would fit in good with the Troy program."

Urbano had received interest from many schools, but Troy was his first offer.

"It's real exciting," Urbano said. "It's exciting just knowing that somebody wants me to play for four years for them.  It's pretty awesome."

Alabama, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Mississippi State and Purdue are just a few of the programs showing interest in the talented 5-foot-9, 185-pound prospect from Calhoun, Georgia.

Urbano played in only six games as a junior due to an ankle injury, but still rushed for over 800 yards and 10 touchdowns.

What does he know about Troy?

"I know our Defensive Coordinator Coach Kramer went to school there, but I really don't know a whole lot about Troy. Coach Franklin told me to come and visit them in June. He said they would be out recruiting until the second week of June.  They are going to come by my school in a couple of weeks, but I will have to wait until June to visit them."
