The recruiting process ended early for 6-3, 215-pound linebacker Daniel Franklin from Habersham Central when he decided to play for the Sooners.
"Well, I just went up there and I felt at home," said Franklin. "I really liked Norman. It's a small town with a big city close by. Norman is not that far away from Oklahoma City. It was a place I really liked. I like Coach Brent Venables, the Defensive Coordinator and the Head Coach, Bob Stoops.
Franklin was impressive at the Scout.com Elite Camp and he's the type of big play guy who should fit right in with the Oklahoma style of defense.
"The linebackers are always down hill at Oklahoma. That's my style of game is down hill. I'm not the kind of guy to sit back, wait, and read. That's why I committed so quick."
Even though he's already committed, there's still some schools recruiting Franklin.
"Some talk to me," he said. "I'm willing to talk if Coaches want to talk. Some coaches, talk some coaches don't. It's just whaterver. I mean I'm still solid with the Sooners."
Only one school will be getting a visit from the standout linebacker this spring.
"I'm just going to Oklahoma," he said. "That's it for me."
Franklin performed well in the Habersham Central spring game last month.
"It went real well," Franklin said. "I had a lot of big plays, a lot of real big hits. It was a lot of fun to get back out there. I'm just ready for the season to start."
