Cameron Demps Decides On Virginia Tech

Peachtree Ridge defensive back Cameron Demps decided to end his recruiting process today when he committed to Virginia Tech. Scout.com caught up with the 5-foot-9.5, 170-pound Demps to find out about his decision.

Peachtree Ridge captured a share of the 2006 Class 5A State Championship last season. The Lions will be looking to duplicate the feat in 2007 thanks to a outstanding defensive secondary led by speedster Cameron Demps.

Earlier today, Demps, who held offers from Florida, LSU, Auburn, and North Carolina, committed to the Hokies of Virginia Tech.

"I really like the atmosphere there," said Demps. "The Coaching staff is great and Virginia Tech is one of the best football programs in the ACC."

"One of their players, Mario Edwards, visited me last night. After talking with him, I knew that Virginia Tech was the place for me."

Edwards, who played safety at Westlake High School in Atlanta, signed with the Hokies in February of 2006.

How solid is Demps with the Hokies?

"I'm very solid," said Demps. "I won't be changing my mind. I'm going to Virginia Tech."

Demps will be a perfect fit in a Virginia Tech defense that loves speed. He ran a 4.35 forty at he Kennedy/CES Combine in February 2007.
