Peachtree Ridge CB commits to Ole Miss

Suwanee, GA - Peachtree Ridge cornerback Brandon Sanders became the Ole Miss Rebels second Peach State prospect to commit in 2007. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder gave the Rebels the word this weekend that he'd be heading to Oxford.

Peachtree Ridge cornerback Brandon Sanders committed to the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday.  He had offers from Middle Tennessee State, Buffalo, Ball State and Liberty. Sanders was also being recruited heavily by Auburn, North Carolina State, and Indiana.

"These last couple of weeks, I've been really thinking about it and praying about it," said Sanders. "Ole Miss wasn't my only offer. I had other offers, so I had to think about where I wanted to move and what would be the best situation for me. I've just been praying about it and I felt like God was telling me Ole Miss."

Yesterday, Sanders and his Dad traveled to Cleveland, Tenn. to pick up his brother who attends Lee University.  It was on this trip that he decided to go ahead and commit to Ole Miss.

"I really feel like that was the best decision for me," Sanders said. "Me and my dad had a long talk about it and we just decided to go ahead and pull the trigger."

When asked about what stood out the most about the Rebels, Sanders responded without hesitation.

"I really like the coaching staff, especially coach Hugh Freeze," he said. "He seems to be real genuine.  I basically talk to him just about everyday.  He contacts me almost everyday and he's always checking on me.  He wants to see how everything is going.  Everyday he's asking me if I want to be a Rebel."

"I text him yesterday.  I told him 'Coach I want to be a Rebel.'  He told me to call him ASAP. I called him and he was really excited.  He was real happy to hear that."

Sanders said his pledge to Ole Miss is very solid.  With his recruiting process behind him, he can concentrate on his upcoming season and a possible repeat.

"This is my senior year and I'm a leader on this team," he said. "Now that I've got where I'm going to school out of the way, I can just focus on my team and trying to win back-to-back state championships.  I'm just going to go out there and focus on what I got to do and being a leader of this team."

Sanders said he plans to visit the ole Miss campus in September.  He became the second Peach State prospect to commit to Ole Miss in 2007.  Mays linebacker/defensive end prospect Bernard Smith committed to the Rebels back in February.
