Georgia's Top Performers: Week 1

Commerce QB Reuben Haynes carried the ball 14 times for 201 yards and four touchdowns in the Tigers' 42-26 win over Rabun County. He also went 5-for-6 passing for 79 yards and a touchdown. Now that week one of the 2007 football season is behind us, GAVSV takes a look at some of the Peach State's top performers from week one.

DJ Adams, RB, Norcross - rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in 42-12 win over Duluth.

Tyler Adetona, WR, Gainesville - had 3 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown in 55-0 win over East Hall.

Malik Allah, QB, Haralson County -  went 11-for-12 passing for 301 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown in 42-18 win over Rockmart.

Aldreakis Allen, RB, Madison County - ran for 84 yards on 17 carries and had three catches for 37 yards in a 23-6 win over Franklin County.

Greg Archibong, RB, Campbell - rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns in Spartans' 12-7 win over Wheeler.

David Arnold, RB, Valdosta - rushed 25 times for 105 yards and a touchdown. He also caught three passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Spencer Baird, QB, Madison County -  went 4-for-10 passing while rushing for 61 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown.

Anthony Ball, RB, Prince Avenue -  rushed for 100 yards including touchdown runs of 82-yards and 5-yards in 34-12 loss to Fellowship Christian.

Tyson Beacham, QB, Athens Christian - completed 20 of 33 passes for three touchdowns and three interceptions in 50-28 loss to Eagles Landing Christian Acadamy.

Morocko Blash, RB, West Laurens - had 187 yards rushing on 24 carries and three touchdowns in 28-17 upset of rival Dublin.

Ralph Bolden, RB, Charlton County - ran for 156 yards on 22 carries and
two touchdowns in 16-6 win over Clinch County.

James Bonner, RB, Thomson - ran for 163 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in the Bulldogs' 21-0 win over Salem.

Barry Bostic, QB, Jefferson County - completed 10-of-13 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. He added 20 carries for 72 yards on the ground in Warriors' 27-17 victory over Burke County.

Dreco Bostic, RB,  Athens Christian - rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown. He also caught five passes for 21 yards.

Xzavian Brandon, WR, Northview - 5 receptions for 105 yards in 21-7 win over Mill Creek.   

Derek Brown, RB, Jordan - ran for 142 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in 7-6 loss to Kendrick.

Lamar Brown, RB, Jefferson County - had 90 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 15 carries.

Nick Burks, RB, Hardaway - carried 28 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns in the Hawks' 21-13 win over Columbus.

Will Callaway, RB, Athens Academy - rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in 27-0 win over Oglethorpe County.

Travis Coles, RB, Screven County - carried 15 times for 102 yards in 34-14 win over Screven County.

Nic Cordell, RB, Sonoraville - finished the night with 149 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown in 30-20 loss to South Paulding.

Carter Crutchfield, DB/WR, Dalton - had two interceptions and 3 receptions for 62 yards in 27-21 loss to Calhoun.

Kwame Cunningham, QB, Laney - ran for 78 yards and two scores and threw for 115 yards and a touchdown in 47-0 victory over Butler.

Brandon Davis, RB, Peachtree Ridge - finished with 100 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in 28-0 victory over Shiloh.

Edward Davis, QB, Stone mountain - passed for 252 yards and two touchdowns in 29-10 win over Lakeside.

Johnathan Davis, RB, Tucker - rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns to beat Miller Grove 43-0.

Jarad Dorsey, QB, M.L. King - completed 13 of 26 passes for 198 yards in 41-26 victory over McNair.

Diante Drake, RB, Central Gwinnett - rushed 11 times for 175 yards and two scores in a 31-14 victory against Dacula.

Washaun Ealey, RB, ECI - 11 rushes for 204 yards and four touchdowns in 45-0 win over Metter.

Isreal Escobar, K, Central-Carrol - kicked a 42-yard FG for the Lions only score in a 16-3 loss to Northgate.

Gilberto Espinoza, LB, Johnson-Gainesville - had two sacks, three tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and a fumble recovery all in the first half of the Knights' 16-7 win over Jefferson.

Seth Evans, RB, Johnson-Gainesville - had 14 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown.

David Firth, QB, Ola - completed 12 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown. Firth also rushed for a touchdown in the Titans' 28-21 win over North Oconee.

Gerald Ford, WR, Gainesville - had 5 catches for 105 yards and three touchdowns.

Jerrico Ford, RB, Baldwin -  rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown in 28-0 win over Washington County.

Justin Fordham, QB, Gainesville - completed 13-18 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns.

Jarmon Fortson, WR, Carver-Columbus - had five catches for 46 yards and two touchdowns in the first half of the Tigers 40-12 win over Spencer.

DeRon Furr, QB, Carver-Columbus - went 7-of-11 for 71 yards and two touchdown passes.  Furr also ran 58-yards for a touchdown on the Tigers' first drive.
Octavious Gilmore, RB, Stone Mountain - ran for 88 yards on nine carries.

Lamar Gordon, WR, Stone Mountain - four receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown.

Jafabian Green, RB, Lincoln County - rushed 5 times for 92yards and a touchdown in 38-2 win over McCormick.

Tijuan Green, RB, Northside - rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns on 11 first quarter carries in 30-0 win over Houston County.

Jacob Griffith, WR,  Athens Christian -  had five receptions for 45 yards and a score.

Kyle Griswould, RB, Shaw - had 191 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns in 32-6 win over Troup County.

Hykeem Hall, RB, Cedar Shoals - had 8 carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns in the Jaguars' 23-10 win over Oconee County.

Taylor Hall, QB, Mt. Pisgah - completed 8 of 11 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown in Patriots'  7-2 win over Walker.

Derrick Harris, RB, Tucker - rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Reuben Haynes, QB,  Commerce - had 14 carries for 201 yards and four touchdowns.  He also completed 5-of-6 passes for 79 yards including a 13-yard touchdown pass to Cohen Cook in the Tigers' 42-26 win over Rabun County.
Brandon Haywood, QB, Rockmart - went 8-12 passing for 133 yards with one touchdown and he also rushed for a 118 yards with 2 touchdowns.

Major Herron, QB, Camden County - completed 8-of-9 passes for 95 yards.  He also carried 6 times for 93 yards and a touchdaown in the Wildcats' 20-3 win over Warner Robins.

Kaream Hess, RB, Tift County - rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries to lead the Blue Devils to a 16-7 victory over Brooks County.

Ronald Holiday, QB, Douglass - passed for 162 yards and two touchdowns in victory over Grady.

Caleb Horvath, QB, Chattahoochee County - completed 20-of- 30 for 220 yards and four touchdowns.

Cameron Hudson, RB, Dalton - had nine rushes for 54 yards and 5 receptions for 101 yards.

Marques Ivory, QB, Northside - completed 4 of 7 passes in the rain for 39 yards and rushed 4 times for 39 more yards.

Dontavius Jackson, RB Heard County - rushed for 236 yards on 11 carries in the first half of 51-30 win over Bremen.  Jackson missed the second half with an injured wrist.

Patrick Jenkins, RB, Statesboro - carried 11 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Michael Johnson, RB, Screven County - carried 14 times for 142 yards and a touchdown in 34-14 loss to Statesboro.

Jakenzie Jones, RB, Seminole County - rushed 15 times for 107 yards and one touchdown.

Johnnie Jones, FB, Seminole County - rushed 9 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

Tre Lamb, QB, Calhoun - completed 18-of-26 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns in 27-21 win over Dalton.

Lance Martin, RB, Milton - rushed for 127 yards on 16 carries in a 14-0 win over Forsyth Central.

Andrew Matthieson, QB, Milton - completed 8 of 17 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown.

Trent McGuire, QB,  Cedar Shoals - rushed for 106 yards on 13 carries including a 51-yard touchdown run.  He also had 48 yards passing.

Jake McIntosh,  LB,  Dalton, - had 17 tackles in 27-21 loss to Calhoun.

A.G. Middlebrooks, RB, Lincoln County - the sophomore rushed 6 times for 91yards and a touchdown.

Trey Miller, QB, Whitefield Academy - threw for 181 yards and a touchdown in 21-6 loss to Brookstone.

Kevin Millward, QB, Evans - completed 9 of his 15 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown in 21-7 win over Harlem.

Ben Moon, WR, Athens Christian - had eight catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns

Mike Palmer, QB, Northeast -  finished with 280 passing yards.  He scored four touchdowns - two passing, one rushing and one on an interception return in 33-22 win over Dougherty.

Devon Pike, K, Northside - was 3 for 3 on PATs and added a 28 yard field goal in 30-0 win over Houston County.

Blake Poole, WR, Haralson County - finished with six receptions for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

Tauren Poole, RB, Stephens County -  had 254 yards rushing & four touchdowns in 34-20 victory over Senecs , SC.

Rod Reid, RB, Elbert County - rushed 29 times for 134 yards and a touchdown in Blue Devils 27-0 win over Crescent Iva, SC.

Matt Robinson, QB, Alpharetta - passed for two touchdowns and ran for another in 24-12 win over North Forsyth.

Harrison Scott, QB, Dalton,  -  was 11-for-20 passing for 203 yards and one touchdown and a two point conversion. He also had 70 yards rushing and two more touchdowns.

Juan Singhavong, RB, Haralson County - had 38 rushing yards and 85 receiving yards.

Connor Shaw, WR, Flowery Branch  - had 3 receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown in a 28-0 win over White County.

Jaybo Shaw, QB, Flowery Branch -  rushed 13 tims for 82 yards and two touchdowns.  He also went 8-for-15 passing for 160 yards and a touchdown in the air.

Debrale Smiley, RB, Thomas County Central - rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries, also adding a 53-yard reception in 28-7 win over Thomasville.

Ronnie Smith, RB, Peachtree Ridge - blocked a punt and rushed for three touchdowns (1, 3 and 11 yard runs). 

Jo Jo Sweet, RB, Chestatee, - ran for 240 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries. He also had 2 Receptions for 31 Yards and one touchdown.

Jeff Turner, FB, Athens Academy - rushed for a career-high 125 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns. 

John Valentine, RB, Cherokee - rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries as the Warriors defeated Starr's Mill 35-7.

Chase Vasser, LB, Chestatee - had 20 total tackles, 8 solo, 12 assists, 3 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 7 QB hurries in 41-30 win over West Hall.

Jordon Walker, RB, Bulloch Academy - rushed 13 times for 190 yards an three touchdowns in 40-0 win over David Emanuel.

Darius Walton, RB, Ridgeland - racked up 115 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries in 49-13 win over Armuchee.

Corey White, DB, Dunwoody - scored on a 24-yard reception and returned a fumble 75 yards for another touchdown beat Southside 46-13.

Seth White, QB, Central-Carrol - completed 11-of-20 passing for 121 yards.

Tony Williamson, RB, Milton - carried 16 times for 134 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 34-yard reception for a touchdown  

Bryan Willis, RB, Shaw -  had 114 yards on 7 carries and two touchdowns.

Ryan Wilson, FB, Trion - ran for 180 yards on 17 carries in 21-13 win over LaFayette.

Ronnie Wooten, RB, Cairo - rushed for 200 yards on 9 carries with touchdown runs of 40, 49 and 54 yards.

Top Team Performers:

Robert Lucisano and Greg Foster each returned blocked punts for touchdowns while Jonathan Carter returned a kickoff 84 yards for another special-teams score as St. Pius defeated North Springs 55-0.

Marcus Wallace, Eddie Bell, and Brian Hegle combined for 337 rushing yards to lead Lee County to a 27-21 win against Westover.

Johnathan Davis rushed for 207 yards, and Derrick Harris added 110 yards as Tucker totaled 405 rushing yards in 43-0 win over Miller Grove.

The Cook defense held Colquitt County under 100 yards of total offense and caused four turnovers in 14-0 win.  The Packers completed just 2-of-13 passes for eight yards and rushed for just 87 yards on 29 carries.

Cairo Syrupmaker Defense held Osborne Cardinals to 1 first down and 84 total yards. 

The Camden County defense limited Warner Robins to 1 first down and 25 yards of total offense in a 20-3 victory. The 3 points allowed came after a botched punt return that set the Demons up inside the Camden 25.

Chestatee offense tied a school record for most points in a game with 41.  They also set a school record for total offense of 455 yards in 41-30 win over West Hall.

Charlton County defense held Clinch County to 73 total yards in a 16-6 victory.

Ridgeland rolled up 600 yards of total offense, 443 coming by 11 different ball carriers. The 49 points and 600 yards in the 49-13 win over Armuchee are the highest totals during the tenure of fourth-year head coach Mark Mariakis.

Effingham County's defense shutout Richmond Academy in a 31-0 win. They forced 6 turnovers, had 3 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, and scored two touchdowns. LB Darryl Wright had 2 interceptions, one on a diving catch off a deflection and one 42-yard return for a touchdown.
