For the first time in the football program's four years of existence, Mill Creek is headed to the playoffs.
Thanks to Chris Boggs' two interceptions in the game's final two minutes, the Hawks upset No. 8 Peachtree Ridge 17-10 Friday night thus earning a spot in the postseason.
Mill Creek running back Lenny Brooks helped set the offensive tone for the Hawks ((6-3 overall, 5-2 Region 7-AAAAA) with 127 yards on the ground and a third-quarter touchdown that had extended Mill Creek's lead to 14-3.
Brandon Davis then added an 18-yard scoring run for the Lions ((5-3 overall, 4-2 Region 7-AAAAA) to cut the deficit to a 14-10 score.
Then, after being set up by a Collin Stuart fumble return for Mill Creek, Hawks kicker Baxter Smith scored the game's final points on a 39-yard field goal.
